Last week I attended the Cadet First Aid Instructors Course along with 30 other cadets selected from across the South West, London and South East Regions along with some CCF cadets as well.
We achieved the following:
– Activity First Aid Assessor
– Automated External Defibrillator Operator
– Method Of Instruction
– Essential First Aid Instructor
– Risk Assessor AwarenessÂ
– Casualty Simulation (CASSIM)
– First Aid Competition Skills
– First Aid at Work
– Course Planning & Admin Skills
We were fortunate enough to complete the Biker Down UK course thanks to Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, and spend a morning engaging with Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers – REME for a visit and photo with the AH64.
We will now start to plan and deliver our first Youth First Aid courses across the region (in my case South West regions and Dorset & Wilts Wing). I have already been presented with a number of new certificates and my gold lanyard for my Methods of Instruction/Cadet Instructor status. Once I have delivered my first YFA I will be awarded my Gold First Aid badge which is the highest level within the RAF Air Cadets.
We had an amazing week, with new friends and lots of hard work but it was one of the best cadet camps I have ever attended for team work and support. We all had a shared focus and goal to work towards. As we all departed last weekend we have remained in contact through social media, shared photos and continue to support each other with the development of our new lesson plans!
